Taranjeet Singh

Taranjeet Singh is a C-Suite Executive Coach and Senior Leadership Development Consultant for Executive Development Associates (EDA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is also concurrently the CEO of Quantum Steppe Advisory and is focused specifically on areas of effective Human Capital Management and Business Enablement. He has over 25 years of local, regional and global consulting experience. Skilled in the area of organization transformation, he brings to the table an acute understanding of key considerations relating to how disruptive thinking can inturn enhance organization efficiencies, performance and productivity improvement, value realization, leadership and cultural assessment, strategic planning and employee effectiveness interventions to name a few.

Having been proactively involved in significant organization turnarounds as well as M&A exercises, Taranjeet has also conducted and led a variety of privatization and corporatization activities. In recent years, his focus has been predominantly aligning organizational productivity and performance enhancement, effective talent management and development, business enablement and value realization to successfully support the visions and aspirations at a CEO-cum-Board level. He has played key leadership roles in driving National Agenda crafting and execution in a variety of countries within ASEAN and now more recently, in Central Asia. The sectors he has convered range from Aviation, Banking and Finance, Petrochem, Telecommunications and FMCG to name a few.

Taranjeet is a Chartered Fellow with the Chartered Management Institute UK as well as with the Institute of Managers and Leaders, Aust respectively. Amongst other things, a certified Executive Professional Coach with ICF, he is also a globally accredited Advance Practioner of DISC, Motive, Value, LearninG Styles and Emotional Intelligence profiling. Taranjeet is also an accredited Motives and Value Profiling Coder as well as an accredited Behaviourial Event Interviewer trained during his days with Hay Group. By training Taranjeet holds a BA Joint Hons, Computer Sci and Law (UK), a Master of Laws (Aust) with a focus on Corporate Law and the area of IP, and a Master of Business Administration (UK) with a focus on Strategic Management.

Taranjeet has taken on many roles during his 25-year career in the world of Management Consulting. The work that he is involved in right now is predominantly centered at addressing Board and C Suite level challenges whether they be driving financial growth through organization productivity initiatives, supporting leadership and change efforts to deliver the sustained financial outcomes expected, addressing succession planning challenges, focusing on effective workforce optimization and the exit of staff, linking people processes to specific outcomes or preparing for IPO to name a few. Whilst working closely with the Human Capital Team in crafting and executing specific intervention programs, Taranjeet also provides leadership coaching, which is geared towards driving a resulted oriented, high performance organization. Many of his clients have ranged from the Cabinet of Governments, Ministeries, Agencies and the Civil Service where National Agenda is concerned (the Governments of Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore) respectively to Sovereign Wealth Funds (Khazanah Nasional, Malaysia and Samruk Kazyna, Kazakhstan) & Private Equity Funds (Ekuiti Nasional) where the interlinkage with Private Public Partnership is involved.

Taranjeet commenced his career as a junior Legal Assistant with Kaiser Engineers Pty Ltd, an Oil and Gas Consultancy Firm in Perth, Australia and then subsequently assuming a consultant role with Price Waterhouse, moving up the levels very quickly to becoming a Managing Consultant being actively involved in organization restructuring, process redesign, change management and M&A to name a few.

Taranjeet assumed the role of Director of Transformation with a boutique strategic consulting firm Mercatela where his focus was pillared on the development and support of the then nascent e-commerce sector. Subsequently his role in Hewitt Associates was centered at being the Practice Lead for the Leadership & Talent space as well as that of Employee Engagement and spanned across a variety of countries within South East Asia.

Over the more recent decade, Taranjeet played a key leadership role in Hay Group SEA where he took on the mantle piece of Leading and Managing the Employee Effectiveness Offering as well as that of the Building Effective Organization space. In so doing, he managed and directed, amongst other things, a variety of M&As, large scale organization restructuring projects, including Cabinet Performance Management related engagements. He was actively involved in the consulting of various Ministries and Central Agencies within the Government of Malaysia. A notable engagement that Taranjeet was actively involved in project directing the human capital track relating to the holistic restructuring exercise of Malaysia Airlines impacting 20k employees globally across 50 countries. During the course of this engagement, he was constantly managing the Board of MAS as well with Khazanah Nasional, the principal shareholders of MAS.

Over the past years, Taranjeet has played the role of an External Advisor to the Government of Kazakhstan, focusing on, amongst other things, how best to drive efficiencies and enhance talent management practices within the Government machinery. The focus of this Transformational Engagement has been, amongst other things, the realignment of the job grading structure, linking the same to the rewards system and ensuring that the competencies that are being developed are indeed future centric in nature.

And more recently, he had assumed the role of General Manager, KornFerry HayGroup Kazakhstan with an oversight into Central Asia as well. Working with the Samruk Kazyna Corporate University, Taranjeet has been instrumental in supporting the creation of a national Professional Executive Coaching Network in Kazakhstan. Working closely with the Corporate Development Centre of Malaysia, Taranjeet has played a significant role in the setting up of the National Centre for Social Partnership & Communication in Kazakhstan. This is Centre is designed specifically to cater for the implications of the demands of the Kazakhstani workforce of the future.

A pragmatist by nature, Taranjeet consistently endeavours to assist and facilitate organizations bridge the gaps in their Human Capital Management. He does this by applying disruptive thought leadership and crafting simple, yet effective solutions to drive effective talent management and development programs as well as enhanced human capital effectiveness. Put together, they will provide the building blocks for a new but effective business and inturn enhanced shareholder value. His particular area of interest lies in top team interventions and how best to galvanize the role of Human Resources to support the Top Team and lead the way in executing the new normal that organizations are increasingly faced with today.

Taranjeet is a prolific writer, speaker and contributor of thought leadership pieces to regional/national conferences, as well as to digital and mainstream media. In addition to corporate based consulting and execution, Taranjeet plays a significant role in the area of human capacity and capability development at a National level to support the national talent development agenda as the Nation is impacted by IR4.0 and the Digital Economy at large. He is a Regional Board Member of the Chartered Management Institute UK. He also sits on the advisory board of several start-ups within the agri-technology space (BoomGrow Machine Farming), in the social enterprise and venture builder space (Otherdots.com) and is a co-founder of a talent acquisition blockchain start-up (JoOpps.io).
