Michael Stafford

Mike Stafford is a Senior Leadership Consultant & C-Suite Coach with Executive Development Associates. Michael has previously worked for a variety of global Fortune 500 companies, including Starbucks Coffee Company, PepsiCo (Taco Bell division), Metro Media Restaurants, and Litton Industries (now Northrop Grumman). In addition, he has consulted both domestically and internationally to a wide range of organizations such as Williams-Sonoma, Aflac Insurance, Motorola, Boeing, Mazda Motors and DreamWorks SKG.

Throughout his career he has distinguished himself by focusing on developing innovative solutions that anticipate emerging business needs and enhance an organization’s ability to reach its strategic business objectives. He is recognized for his skills in organization development, leadership development, learning strategy and implementation, succession planning, executive coaching, survey design and research, change management and assessment /selection. Michael has been named as one of America’s top 100 top practitioners in Leadership Development by Leadership Excellence magazine and has been a keynote speaker at many professional and corporate conferences. In addition he was a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) Global HR Advisory Panel.

Prior to joining EDA, Michael served as Senior Vice President, Talent Management for Starbucks Coffee Company for eight years. In this role he was responsible for overseeing all global learning and development, leadership and organization development, talent acquisition/staffing, succession planning and the global employee engagement survey process.

Prior to joining Starbucks, Michael held a senior level leadership development position with Freddie Mac, at the time a Fortune 50 mortgage and financial services organization. Previously, he was Vice President, Organization and Leadership Development at i2 Technologies, a leading provider of supply chain software. He also held a similar position at Metro Media Restaurant Group (Bennigan’s, Steak & Ale, Ponderosa, and Bonanza restaurants). Michael began his career in leadership and management development with Taco Bell Corporation (then a division of PepsiCo) in Irvine, California.

Michael holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from New York University, a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. Mike has served on numerous professional and non-profit Boards of Directors including for the Human Resource Planning Society, Leadership Tomorrow and Seattle University’s Center for Leadership Formation. He has also been a member of the adjunct faculty of the Center for Creative Leadership and the University of Redlands.
