Maya Hu-Chan

Maya Hu-Chan is a Senior Leadership Consultant and C-Suite Coach with Executive Development Associates.  An expert in global leadership, executive coaching and cross-cultural management, she was ranked within the Top 8 Global Solutions Thinkers by Thinkers50, World Top 30 Leadership Gurus, and Top 100 Thought Leaders in Management & Leadership by Leadership Excellence.  Harvard Business School has chosen her book “Global Leadership: The Next Generation” as one of their Working Knowledge recommended books.  This book was translated into multiple languages.

Maya has trained and coached thousands of leaders in Global Fortune 500 companies and public sectors around the world.  She helps global organizations develop their leaders and bridge the leadership and management challenges that stem from multi-national operations.

Born and raised in Taiwan and currently residing in San Diego, California, Maya is fluent in English and Chinese.  Prior to her consulting career, Maya was an anchor for the China Broadcasting Company in Taiwan, and the CEO of a non-profit organization in California. She has lectured at the Brookings Institution, University of California San Diego, University of Southern California, Penn State University, University of Chicago, and Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

In addition to “Global Leadership: The Next Generation”, Maya is also a contributing author on ten business and leadership books.  Maya is a frequent contributor and interviewee to a wide range of business publications and media, including Inc.com, BusinessWeek, Harvard Business Online, Bloomberg, OD Practitioner, Leadership Excellence, Thinkers50, Business Coaching Worldwide, SmartBrief on Leadership, Voice America, Asia Media, The Human Factor Magazine (India), AthenaOnline, and ATD Management Blog.  She is also a regular conference speaker.

Maya has authored Leadership Resource Guides for: AT&T, Budget Rent-a-Car, Calpers, Eastman Kodak, Johnson & Johnson, AT&T, MGM Mirage Casinos & Resorts, Nortel, Schering-Plough, Siemens, Sun Microsystems, and US West.  Some of her publications were translated into German, Spanish, and French.

Maya has an extensive list of publications on management, leadership, global business skills, and multicultural teambuilding.  She also developed a well-received series of Doing Business with China, India, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Education

Born and raised in Taiwan, Maya received her B.A. in Journalism from National Chengchi University in Taiwan, and Master’s degree from Annenberg School of Communications, University of Pennsylvania.  She is the certified provider for: Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder-Centered Coaching (Master Coach), Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Extended DISC, InsideOut coaching model, GlobeSmart, Cultural Navigator/COI.
