Karen Hanks-Folino

Karen Hanks-Folino is an EDA Partner as well as a Senior Strategy Consultant and C-Suite Coach with Executive Development Associates. She specializes in change management, women in leadership, communication skills, teambuilding, transition management/first 90 days, strategy, emotional intelligence, influencing others, managing diversity, and building high performance teams. Karen is a Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation since 2013.  She has held executive level positions with major transportation companies including GE Transportation, Burlington Northern Santé Fe and CSX Transportation, as well as Coors Brewing Company, ConAgra Foods, AC Nielsen, and a supply chain leadership role with Cargill, Inc., the largest privately held company in North America.   Her focus has been with Fortune 50 companies both privately and publicly held, as well as start-up and small business companies. She has more than 20 years’ experience in Technology, Consumer Products, Customer Success, Supply Chain, and Transportation and Logistics.  A significant focus of her career has been in progressive management and leadership and customer experience in shipper and technology-based Fortune 500, midsize, and start-up companies.

She has served on various academic, industry and non-profit advisory groups.  She is also a member of National Association of Railway Business Women, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and International Coaching Federation.  She serves on the American Shortline Association Safety Institute Advisory Board.

Karen’s leadership expertise spans key phases of commercial/sales management, change management and includes functional expertise in process implementation, structural organizational, and technology implementation.  Her functional strengths include sales management, customer success/service delivery, supply chain management, change and transformation management, building organizational capability and leadership in Balance Scorecard strategy development.  In her various rail roles, Karen most recently led the visioning, transformation and implementation of strategic business models that created a complete product management and service delivery structure for over 40 technology products.

Karen has been very active with the Habitat for Humanity and Ruritan National (a national community service organization) along with her local church and community initiatives.  In 2018, Karen became a Kansas Big Sister and a part of the POM (Positive Outcomes in Mentoring) project.

Karen holds advanced degrees from Harvard Business School, the University of Tennessee, University of Dallas and Lee University in Cleveland, TN.
