Val Markos

Biography:

Val Markos addresses the assessment, selection and development of future leadership. His experience resides in  succession planning, high potential development programs, executive education.

Val has served in various HR roles.  Prior to joining BellSouth, he worked as an internal consultant in the area of personnel selection and organization development in both the private (USX) and public sector (City of Miami, Florida).

His education includes an MS and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Georgia and BA degree in Psychology from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, where he grew up.

Val has made numerous presentations at conferences and seminars sponsored by nationally recognized professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association, the Society of Industrial/Organizational Psychology, the Human Resources Planning Society, and the American Society for Training and Development. His most recent publication was a chapter on Executive Development in The 21st Century Executive published in 2001 by the Society of I/O Psychology. He has served in leadership roles in several professional and service organizations; most recently serving as Chair of the Management Education Alliance, an alliance of corporations, major business schools and historically minority business schools aimed at improving the business education of minority students.

Val and his wife, Blanche, have three children, a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter. Val, an avid sports fan, is active in family, church and community. He also finds time to stay in shape competing in marathons and triathlons.
