Susan Curtis

Biography: 
Susan brings over thirty years of experience in leadership, organization development and adult learning.  She has extensive experience in working with all levels of leaders from “C” level executives to recent graduates of MBA programs.  Susan has designed leadership strategies, in-house executive development programs, and coached leaders.  In her organization development work, she has led large scale organization change initiatives, designed performance management and succession planning processes, and implemented employee surveys.  She has held corporate leadership development roles in the nuclear, building products and high technology industries.  Most recent publications include a chapter in Best Practices in Leadership Development and Organization Change, How the Best Companies Ensure Meaningful Change and Sustainable Leadership, Wiley 2005; and an article in IHRIM Journal, “Leadership Coaching—Fast Track Development,” January/February 2005.  She teaches Introduction to Women’s Leadership at the Women’s College, The University of Denver and coaches for the Center for Creative Leadership.

Susan taught at the community college level for a number of years in Florida.  She designed the curriculum for the Community College of Aurora (Colorado) at its formation and secured articulation agreements with the upper level universities in Colorado. She is a founder of Women’sLink, an inter-corporate leadership development and networking program bringing mid-level corporate women together with senior-level women.  She serves on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of Denver, where she has served in leadership roles as board chair and chair of the workforce development and development committees.  Susan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Iowa State University and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, Post-Secondary Education, from the University of Florida.

Susan and her husband Jim enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities—golf, biking, hiking and skiing.  They have five grown children, who with their families, are spread from Kenya to California.
