George Consolver

Biography:

George serves as director of Texas Instruments Strategy Process. He is responsible for integrating principles of strategy, learning, leadership, and teamwork to develop shared understanding among TI leaders on key company issues.

The overall goal is building unity and momentum in achieving TI’s Vision and Strategic Direction. These responsibilities are under the direction of TI’s Chairman / President / Chief Executive Officer, and the TI Strategy Leadership Team (SLT). George’s primary focus is the development high-quality business strategies that will enable TI to increase its differentiation in the marketplace and sustain it over time. Results of the TI Strategy Process include:

Development of a draft vision for the company involving the SLT and a cross- functional action team of senior executives from different TI business areas.

1995: Testing of the draft vision though Creating Our Future workshops involving customers, suppliers, outside experts, and over 200 TI leaders from different businesses, regions, and functions. The key result was crafting of a shared vision for the company -- World Leadership in Digital Solutions for the Networked Society.

1996: Generating a clear strategic direction of value, stability, and growth in order to achieve the vision. Creating Our Future workshops focused on understanding the leader’s role in innovation and new business creation needed to achieve TI’s vision.

1997-98: Creating value through improved business acumen and understanding of TI’s Digital Signal Processing Solutions (DSPS) strategy to grow attractive markets with attractive business positions. Over 200 DSPS leaders are focused on actions needed to align and grow their business areas along with improving their personal leadership development. From 1991 to 1994, George was director of Communications and Planning for TI’s Defense Systems & Electronics Group (DSEG). His responsibilities included customer communications, business planning, and new market identification. George was co-leader for the customer satisfaction category of DSEG’s winning 1992 Malcolm Baldrige U.S. National Quality Award. In 1993-94, he led DSEG and other TI leadership teams through strategy processes to craft business unit visions and strategic intents.

From 1986 to 1991, George was manager of Strategic Planning & Mission Analysis, and Deputy Strategy Manager for Avionics Systems with responsibility for new business concepts for advanced radar, electro-optic, communications, and digital processing systems.

From 1981 to 1986, George was business development and strategy manager for TI’s Communication, Navigation, and Intelligence systems. Previously, he held leadership positions in computer and software development for the Global Positioning System, airborne computers, and distributed processor/memory systems. George joined TI in 1968 after receiving his B.S. from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

George is a member of The Corporate Strategy Board, and serves on the Advisory Board to the Peter Drucker Foundation.
